Compair Voyages by Chinese Fleet in Early 1400s to Voyages of Lberians Free Essays

Cody Gundick History Oct 8, 2012 History Essay For a large portion of the last a few thousand years, it would have appeared to be far likelier that Chinese or Indians, not Europeans, would overwhelm the world continuously 2000, and that America and Australia would be settled by Chinese instead of by the occupants of a regressive island called Britain. (The Prequel, Kristof p552) The journeys by the Chinese armada were totally different however had a few likenesses to the journeys of the Liberians. The Portuguese and Spaniards had various objectives, on account of their legacy, in the journeys. We will compose a custom paper test on Compair Voyages by Chinese Fleet in Early 1400s to Voyages of Lberians or on the other hand any comparative point just for you Request Now Contingent upon what Spanish journey it was the skipper of the journeys were unique yet now and then comparable here and there. The Chinese were unmistakably further developed in innovation that the Spaniards or the Portuguese were. Westerners frequently trait their monetary preferred position today to the knowledge, majority rule propensities, or hard expression of their progenitors, however an increasingly significant explanation may well have been the indiscretion of fifteenth-century Chinese rulers. (The Prequel, Kristof p. 553) Zheng He was a muslin from an agitator family and had seized by the Chinese armed force when he was a kid. The defining moment during the 1400s was when Admiral Zheng He cruised from China to agree the world on a few journeys. One chief like Zheng He was Vasco da Gama. In 1497 the Portuguese sailor drove an armada of for ships around the southern tip of Africa into the Indian Ocean. He sort of replicated off of Bartolomeu Dias however Vasco da Gama didn’t return back to Portugal. Both of those men worked for their lord while Zheng He did it just for himself. Not to be egotistical, he didn’t keep all the information he got for himself he just went on the campaigns and didn’t need to take orders from anybody. Vasco da Gama was attempting to offer wealth to his lord however he bombed when none of his useless blessings were fruitful. Be that as it may, his journeys were about exchange defeats. They were searching for another approach to get to Europe as opposed to taking the deceptive route over the land. ZHeng He was not keen on exchange defeats nor with Europe by any means. Another skipper that needs to take orders from a ruler is Christopher Columbus. He was an Italian mariner from Genoa. He attempted to cruise west to Asia however the same number of individuals know today that is outlandish. Columbus arrived at the Caribbean islands thinking he was by China and Japan. Zheng He would most likely snicker in Columbus’s face if Christopher came up to Zheng and requested that he subsidize his journeys. First Columbus named the islands after his ruler and sovereign then he meandered around searching for large urban areas. He was significantly intrigued by the individuals and needed to get familiar with their discourse and ways. Zheng He would have appeared at the island, took one pioneer and some intriguing things back home and attempt to find out about it from that point. On the off chance that Columbus had as much influence, cash, and innovation as Zheng He there journeys wouldn’t have been entirely different. The objectives of the Spaniards were far not quite the same as those of Zheng He. As I said before Zheng He was not worried in spreading his religions, customs, or advances. He simply needed to find out about the world in his own specific manner. Truly he had a great deal of fighters yet he didn’t catch and agree land with them. He simply pillaged the terrains for information and things. A far various chief from Zheng He was Hernan Cortes. Cortes, of minor honorable plummet, at nineteen years old cruised to the Indies, where he set up a major home on the island of Hispaniola. At the point when he heard accounts of Montezuma’s gold he was resolved to take it from him. (The Conquest of New Spain, Bernal Diaz p598) Unlike Columbus and Zheng He, Cortes prepared for war. He brought 500 fighters, eleven boats, 16 ponies, and a few bits of ordnance. (The Conquest of New Spain, Bernal Diaz p598) Cortes despite everything needed to observe the standards of his pioneer however he later ignored him and turned into a needed man back as his nation. Cortes was not intrigued by profession or monetary issues to better his nation of origin. He was resolved to have everything for him self and to attempt spread Christianity to satisfy the ruler. That additionally accompanies attempting to in slave the entirety of the Indians. That he did after he utilized his splendid system to execute Montezuma and assume control over the city. The main thing that Zheng He did gravely for himself was the point at which he needed to receive things that he didn't have anything to give consequently adjacent to Peaceful force projection. It was that Zheng He vowed to align with the individuals that gave him what he needed. The Spaniards did horrendous things to the Indians. The took newborn children from their moms bosom, grabbing trim by the legs and pitching them heedlessly against the banks or grabbed them by the arms and tossed them into the waterways, thundering with chuckling and saying as the infants fell into the water, Boil there you posterity of the fallen angel. (The Devastation of the Indies, Bartolome De Las Casas p615) If Zheng He had that sort of demeanor of catch and agree he could have effectively done it. In any case, thank god he didn’t. Zheng He, as I would like to think, could do anything he needed. China was the universes powerhouse and I wish Zheng He went to the Indians before the Spaniards to give them Peaceful Power Projection since he could have aligned with them and gave them security from the detestable murderous Spaniards. Despite the fact that he was behind in time China was undeniably further developed than some other nation. In Zheng He’s time, China and India together represented the greater part of the world’s net national produce. (The Prequel, Kristof p553) As they have for the majority of history. In 1820 China represented 29% of the worldwide economy and India another 16%, as indicated by the counts of Angus Maddison, a main British monetary student of history. Zheng He’s armada was far greater than any Spanish or Portugal armada. Not until World War I did the west mount anything practically identical to his armada. His boats were loaded up with 28,000 mariners on 300 boats, (The Prequel, Kristof p552) and all he was worried about was learning. Zheng He could have effortlessly proceeded around the Cape of Good Hope and built up direct exchange with Europe. In any case, as they saw it Europe was a regressive district and China had little enthusiasm for it. (The Prequel, Kristof p554) Because China was not driven by victory or imperialistic mastery I would have much preferably be a fighter on his boat over some other boat supported by a lord and sovereign. To finish up, the Spanish were worried about spreading Christianity, Portugal needed exchange, that’s most likely why they had probably the best port, and China, well only the head needed to find out about his general surroundings. Really awful that was not proceeded after his demise. Step by step instructions to refer to Compair Voyages by Chinese Fleet in Early 1400s to Voyages of Lberians, Papers

Work Life Balance free essay sample

Overseeing work life balance Introduction This article will analyze overseeing work life equalization and how associations will oversee it in contemporary human asset the executives with important authoritative models. Also, we will take a gander at the present issues and the issues of work life balance. Work life balance (WLB) is a term which alludes to the idea that representatives split their time among work and different parts of individual lives. It used to keep up a harmony among work and relaxation action, for example, family life. It estimated the measure of time on the work contrast and the time on going through with family or other recreation exercises. It is hard to quantify the proficiency and the harmony among work and life. In light of the suspicions of decent variety the board which intend to give a positive work environment condition and acknowledge the individual contrasts from various foundation, sexual orientation, race and so forth so as to keep up correspondence in the working environment. In this way, it is significant that associations present adaptable working course of action as far as giving positive workplace to representatives (Caleb Rosado, PH. D, 2006). Hypothetical Review Due to the ongoing difference in WLB, individuals moved the attention on the parity on work and family jobs just as the outside work. Work life balance is imperative to representatives since it speaks to people groups mental prosperity and fulfillment among work and life (J. Rantanen U. Kinnunen, 2011). WLB can be followed back to past investigations of ladies having numerous jobs for the duration of their lives as ladies are speaking to as moms, spouses and paid laborer where they may encounter over-burden work and cause them unpleasant which recommend it needs fitting working plans so as to build their activity fulfillment (Barnett and Marshall,1993). The coordinated idea of WLB is planning to oversee representatives viably while they are experiencing various jobs struggle in lives and work and endeavor to limited employment disappointment and feelings of anxiety. Be that as it may, as a large portion of the associations are trying to give a positive working environment to the representatives, they give a few approaches to the representatives so as to build the adaptability, for example, working from home open doors for laborers who need to invested more energy at home to care for small kids or offer adaptable work routines, likewise, a few associations give an on location work out schedules, in this way, it expands workers inspiration since they are working in a positive work environment condition ( Heidi Cardenas) . When all is said in done, it proposed that UK has an adaptable workforce work with family life to keep up the harmony among work and life. This lead to a higher business and development in the contemporary decent variety the board (Nick Bloom, Tobias Kretschmer, 2009). Current issue According to the present work life balance issues in assorted variety the executives, it recommended it become an extremely mainstream issue to banter over the world and more individuals and the executives are focusing on it, where it builds the aware of individuals mindful of this issue. Overseeing WLB has been expanded over the most recent 2 decades (De Bruin Dupuis, 2004), which is an ongoing change from past administration style. Likewise, a great deal of private ventures additionally mindful the issue of work life balance as their human asset the board. This has become a significant issue in todays the executives since these days bosses will in general utilize less representatives to adapt to troubles and issues as they need to lessen the expenses, hence the occupations are progressively confused and it expanded their workforce so it turns out to be increasingly hard for workers to keep up an equalization inside work and life, for example, home administration, youngster care and so forth (Douglas T. Corridor) just as the degrees of weight and working time. Furthermore, the segment changes quickly so it influences the work, for example, sex, age, religion, working environments and so on (Dr Mark Wickham, Miss Melissa Parker Simon Fishwick). Because of the expanding number of working moms, it normally applied to ladies that they have to keep up a harmony between working hours and profession break game plans, for example, maternity leave. It expressed that there is a huge increment of working moms in contemporary world, which proposed that 66. % of moms are working contrast and just 23% of moms are working all day in 1996 (Guardian), so associations are required to offer reasonable adaptable working courses of action for moms. Hence, it expands the mindfulness that associations needs to acquaint adaptable working plan with due with this issue as far as being moral and balance. In certain conditions, it recommended that instead of following by a custom that ladies should care for yo ungsters, it offers paternity leave for fathers also so as to urge fathers to dynamic their job in the family (Gill Kirton Anne-marie Greene, 2005). As indicated by the assorted variety the board, it may be viewed as imbalance of people representatives as ladies will in general have longer vocation break plan because of the maternity leave, businesses may enlist new workers to supplant them and this may harm for ladies future profession possibilities (Gill Kirton Anne-marie Greene, 2005). In any case, then again, as per the present issues, it contended that the sexual orientation uniformity of work life balance has changed in the 20 century. It proposed that there are noteworthy increment of men are adding to childcare as opposed to following by the convention that ladies should remain at home and care for the kids (Maron, 2009). By taking a gander at the present issue, it tends to be seen that it is hard to oversee work and family life as representatives (people) need to play a parental job of taking care of kids also. Thusly, the administration set a few guidelines to ensure them. For example, they advanced the Family and Medical Leave Act in 1993. The Family and Medical Leave Act 1993 has made a colossal effect towards the associations. The association needs to give in any event 12 weeks leave in a year for their introduction to the world, people or family disease. This demonstration empower representatives to care for the debilitated kids or old and so on (Judith M. Nixon). Contextual investigation There are hardly any contextual investigations with genuine authoritative models which recommended the administration of work life balance in the contemporary associations. Additionally, t covers various parts of the training in work life balance and expressed the current expand the board style in various nations. One of the contextual investigation is Motorola which is an organization established in 1928 U. S. It conveys arrange correspondences and web to people, organizations and homes. Motorola works in a worldwide situation where their upper hand is to work 24 hours every day and seven days per week. Because of this upper han d, Motorola brings to the table adaptable working time to representatives. It turns into a significant issue to Motorola for representatives having an equivalent time split and adjusting among work and life time as assorted variety the executives plans to help representatives with equivalent chance and anticipating an upbeat workplace. It proposed that there is change in Motorola from the past where all day laborers work seven 12-hour move in fourteen day duration and 2 all day laborers share the activity together and split their working hours similarly. One of the representative called Mary McDonald who is a solitary parent with two kids applied the activity and she guaranteed that activity sharing and working hours are entirely adaptable, in this way this works very well with her family life while she is caring for two kids. Motorola gives her an adaptable working courses of action and work-life balance, in this manner it expands her inspiration and fulfillment at work by giving positive work environment condition as indicated by the point of assorted variety the executives (Gill Maxwell, 2008). Likewise, Motorola expressed that the greater part of the activity sharing specialists are ladies where the greater part of them can't fill in as an all day laborers as indicated by their family life and duties. In any case, Motorola offers an elective open doors for ladies who needs to keep up a harmony among work and family life. This plan has made a preferred position for ladies particularly when ladies return work after their maternity leave which is simpler for them to make up for lost time their work and they have sufficient opportunity to care for youngsters which diminish the degrees of worry at their work. Motorolas adaptable working courses of action has presented new work life balance activities in contemporary associations. Another contextual analysis is about IKEA which is an understand home outfitting retailer which sells home furniture with a low costs. It is a worldwide organization with in excess of 150 stores appropriated everywhere throughout the world. The HR approaches depends at the core of the IKEAs system as they accept the accomplishment of an associations relies upon the dedication of the representatives, in this way IKEA accentuation intensely on the correspondence and working courses of action to the workers (Gill Maxwell, 2008). As per the IKEAs the executives style, it centers intensely around the family life, relaxation exercises and sound condition. This perceives the significance of work life balance. For example, IKEA offers a short breathers to laborers for collaboration in a positive domain. All the more critically, IKEA gives adaptable vocation break plans, for example, marriage leave, parental leave, childcare go out leave and so forth. This empower laborers to manage their own or family issues. Moreover, IKEA acquainted wellbeing advancement with representatives which permit representatives to have a solid working time. IKEA offers foot care and back rub for them during their working time. It gives physical social insurance to representatives as the directors of IKEA thought laborers are worn out on frequently working with their foot. This is an absolutely new work life balance activities in associations where they offer adaptable long periods of work and plans yet in addition physical hea

Understanding Relative Frequency Histograms

In statistics, there are many terms that have subtle distinctions between them. One example of this is the difference between frequency and relative frequency. Although there are many uses for relative frequencies, there is one in particular that involves a relative frequency histogram. This is a type of graph that has connections to other topics in statistics and mathematical statistics. Definition Histograms are statistical graphs that look like bar graphs. Typically, however, the term histogram is reserved for quantitative variables. The horizontal axis of a histogram is a number line containing classes or bins of uniform length. These bins are intervals of a number line where data can fall and can consist of a single number (typically for discrete data sets that are relatively small) or a range of values (for larger discrete data sets and continuous data). For example, we may be interested in considering the distribution of scores on a 50 point quiz for a class of students. One possible way to construct the bins would be to have a different bin for every 10 points. The vertical axis of a histogram represents the count or frequency that a data value occurs in each of the bins. The higher the bar is, the more data values fall into this range of bin values. To return to our example, if we there are five students who scored more than 40 points on the quiz, then the bar corresponding to the 40 to 50 bin will be five units high. Frequency Histogram Comparison A relative frequency histogram is a minor modification of a typical frequency histogram. Rather than using a vertical axis for the count of data values that fall into a given bin, we use this axis to represent the overall proportion of data values that fall into this bin. Since 100% 1, all bars must have a height from 0 to 1. Furthermore, the heights of all of the bars in our relative frequency histogram must sum to 1. Thus, in the running example that we have been looking at, suppose that there are 25 students in our class and five have scored more than 40 points. Rather than constructing a bar of height five for this bin, we would have a bar of height 5/25 0.2. Comparing a histogram to a relative frequency histogram, each with the same bins, we will notice something. The overall shape of the histograms will be identical. A relative frequency histogram does not emphasize the overall counts in each bin.  Instead, this type of graph focuses on how the number of data values in the bin relates to the other bins.  The way that it shows this relationship is by percentages of the total number of data values. Probability Mass Functions We may wonder what the point is in defining a relative frequency histogram. One key application pertains to discrete random variables where our bins are of width one and are centered about each nonnegative integer. In this case, we can define a piecewise function with values corresponding to the vertical heights of the bars in our relative frequency histogram. This type of function is called a probability mass function. The reason for constructing the function in this way is that the curve that is defined by the function has a direct connection to probability. The area underneath the curve from the values a to b is the probability that the random variable has a value from a to b. The connection between probability and area under the curve is one that shows up repeatedly in mathematical statistics. Using a probability mass function to model a relative frequency histogram is another such connection.

Just Like Us by Helen Thorpe Essay - 1172 Words

Just like Us by Helen Thorpe was on systematic study of four young Mexican women growing up in the suburbs of Denver, Colorado with two of the women living in the country as legal residents and the other two living as undocumented. The definition of sociology is defined as â€Å"the systematic study behavior and human groups.† (Scheuble, 2014). Thus definition and can be directly applied the Thorpe’s novel and specifically to the illegal immigrant status of the girls. Throughout her novel she explores situations and problems that occur in America specifically relating to illegal immigrants. For example Thorpe goes on to write about how Yadira was forced into purchasing a fake social security card through the black market. After Raà ºl Gà ³mez†¦show more content†¦Marisela fell under this category of youths that could not further themselves and their education due to their illegal status. Marisela had been a victim of being a proletariat since she did not have legal status and was struggling to become a citizen which would characterize her as bourgeoisie. Furthermore, when Marisela went off to college to the University of Denver she meets a boy named Luke who happens to have strong opinions on the subject of immigration. Luke felt that the United States would be better off if somebody could stop illegal immigrants from pouring across the southern border. He stated that the reason the country was poor was due to illegal immigrants taking all of the jobs and that the government should secure its borders and block new people from coming in as well as have the immigrants who are already here make a stronger effort to get legalized. (Thorpe, 2009 p. 118). Luke was coming from the point of a bourgeoisie, someone who has had no problems of experiencing what it was like to struggle to afford to be in the country or experience what it was like to live in the country with no papers. Coming from the side of the proletariat, Marisela tried to explai n to Luke the difficulties of retrieving papers as well as the hardships that many illegal immigrants face living in the United States. string(35) " of the entire population in 1985\." For the past years the company has been experiencing hampered development in terms of production and distribution of our clothing line. This slow setback has been seen as a result of inadequate marketing railing against exposure and product brand recall. Erroneous decisions in market positioning have also been some of the factors that resulted to poor outcome thus hindering the company’s gain for profit. We will write a custom essay sample on Nigeria Labor Practices and Policies or any similar topic only for you Order Now This paper is geared towards exploring new avenues with regards to new locations in the clothing line market. We would try to investigate three referred locations in countries in Latin America and Africa, namely Bolivia, Sri Lanka and Nigeria. As part of our initial recommendation, this paper would be focusing its first part of the report to the country of Nigeria. Based on preliminary investigation done, Nigeria is being viewed as the most conducive and most advantageous among the three countries in this case study. All of the necessary issues and concerns would be tackled and be briefly discussed on the foregoing items. Like any other sovereign country, labor policies in Nigeria are being controlled and monitored by the government. Labor union practices are allowed by the state, as part of the international community, Nigeria has signed and ratified the International Labor Organization’s (ILO) convention on freedom of association and the creation of labor union. however, prior (military) rulers recognized a single central labor body, the Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC), thereby de-legitimizing other unions. Except for members of the armed forces and selected employees essential by the government, Nigerian workers in all levels may join trade unions and strike. Employees essential to government operations include firefighters, police, employees of the central bank, the security printers (printers of currency, passports, and government forms), and customs and excise staff. Collective bargaining is widespread in many sectors of the economy. Nigerian law specifically the Nigerian Industrial Courts, an independent arm of the judiciary protects workers from retaliation by employers for labor activity. In terms of the protection of Nigerian Children against child labor, Nigeria’s 1974 labor decree prohibits employment of children under 15 years of age in commerce and industry and restricts other child labor to home-based agricultural or domestic work. The law further stipulates that no person under the age of 16 may be employed for more than eight hours per day. The decree allows the apprenticeship of youths under specific conditions Labor laws in Nigeria also enforce strict compliance on the safety of its workers. Just compensation for injured workers and dependent survivors of those killed in industrial accidents are rigorously being imposed on employers. Cultural Attitude Towards Women and Children As in many ethnically diverse countries, women’s role in Nigeria is based on ethnic and regional differences. Majority of the Nigerian women that are still secluded under Islamic beliefs and principles are commonly less educated and sometimes hindered from formal education. Most of urban Nigerian Women are working as stall vendors operating small stalls. Even in elite families of the society, Nigerian women’s presence in social gatherings and other functions are either non-existent or very controlled. However, in contemporary times Nigerian women’s presence in modern society is rising but is still a long foreseeable future for Nigerian women’s role in a country dominated by the principles of old of the male gender. Children are treated as a part of the minority of the society. As mentioned on labor laws being enforced by the government, children are allowed to work providing they are not below 16 years old. In western nations the legal working age of children or minors are 18 and above, this fact just shows that opportunities for children to work is open at a younger age in Nigeria. At present, Nigerian fashion is greatly influenced by both Nigerian ethnic culture and western influence. The presence of diverse style in terms of influences has come a long way in Nigerian fashion. Many noted personalities in the country evolved as icon in the Nigerian fashion industry, many of them have international recognition. Nigeria has designers like Maufechi, Divine, Monami, Kess Jabari, Meggito to mention a few. The presence of Nollywood, the cinematic center of Nigeria similar to that of Hollywood serves as a typical role model to the existing fashion statements in Nigeria. Opral Benson, an African fashion designer par excellence describes fashion as; â€Å"Fashion is continuously changing. You cannot compare the fashions of these days†¦.. Fashion is something which is local, national and international. In short, fashion all over the world is a quite dynamic phenomenon. Fashion trends evolves from ethnic to modern styles, rejuvenating the fashion of early years in Africa towards the influences from Europe and Western countries specifically Afro-American fashion statements from the US. Famous brands from western designers like Versace and Tommy Hill Figger is presently being adored by upper class society in Nigeria, thus only proving that blends in fashion is striving gracefully in the country. Nigeria being the most populated country in the African Continent is considered as a third world developing country. Its people are ethnically divided and have some 250 ethnic groups, with varying languages and customs, creating a country of rich diversity. According to Country Studies, US ; About 70 percent of all Nigerians were still living in farming villages in 1990, although the rural dwellers formed a shrinking proportion of the later force. It was among these people that ways of life remained deeply consistent with the past. Nigerian economy is at its recovery and development stage and is presently undergoing massive reforms to uplift the countries economic standing. The importance of formal education has been one of the primary concerns of the Nigerian Federal Republic and has become the largest social program of the government. At present more than 47% of the age group of 5 to 14 years old have attended primary to secondary schools. The secondary level age-group (ages fifteen to twenty- four) represented approximately 16 percent of the entire population in 1985. You read "Nigeria Labor Practices and Policies" in category "Papers" English is the official mode of instruction above the secondary level of education. Federal Republic is the form of government of Nigeria. Historically, Nigeria re-achieved democracy in 1999 after a sixteen-year-long interruption by a corrupt and brutal series of military dictators and counter-coups. Corruption is still one of the worse problems that the government is facing. Nevertheless and as always in a third world government, new reforms are being undertaken to subdue art of this problem. The Club of Paris considers the economic reforms and policies of the present government under the leadership of President Olu gun ? basanj? is being considered strong and formidable. With a positive outlook, it must be important to note that the prevailing advantageous situation existing in the Federal Government of Nigeria is in sum conducive and serves as a credible prospect to establish a boutique and a manufacturing plant. The existing labor laws of the country are favorable to the type of employment that the plant will need in its operations. The improving educational level of attainment and literacy rate of the prospective employees will be a key factor in streamlining plant and factory operations. The countries demographics being the largest population in West Africa and social conditions as mentioned on previous case finding points out considerably fair in attaining production growth in terms of sales and distribution of primary clothing line. Government reform policies in its economy and foreign policies will trigger our company’s goal to expand and export high quality products produced in the Nigerian based manufacturing plant. Last but not the least, the high fashion sense of Nigerians in terms of garments, in diverse influence and style will be a vast market for our products. The presence of a moving industry like Hollywood will serve as a high level market trend setter that would provide consistent promotion of our clothing line. In summation, Nigeria will not only serve as a good place to establish a manufacturing plant but will also provide the company s a vast market to distribute our products. A country situated in central South America with the present Unity Government headed by President Evo Morales of the Movement Towards Socialism (MTS) Party. The country is highly dominated by indigenous people of Bolivia comprising almost 65% of its population. Bolivia experienced several military government takeovers in the past 5 decades. In terms of Economy, Bolivia is one of the least developed countries in South America and remains to be the poorest among its neighboring nations. Around 65% of the countries population are considered agriculturally dependent and still lives in poverty. The social condition of Bolivia hinders its opportunity to grow as nation. With a large number of grievances coming from the majority of Bolivian indigenous people, ranging from issues like poverty, labor disputes, political issues among other things. Bolivia is still experiencing traditional division of classes of which the working class remains to be in destitute. Political instability has been also a great factor in the slugging economy of the country. The presence of several political parties with contradicting policies and principles thwarts the countries emancipation from political turmoil. Disputes between labor and the state deepened under military rule. Bolivia was a country torn apart by regional, ethnic, class, economic, and political divisions. In terms of education, the present negative standing of Bolivian Government delays the development of general education in the country. Data from US Country Studies on Bolivia detects; Dropout rates also remained extremely high. Only one-third of first graders completed the fifth grade, 20 percent started secondary school, 5 percent began their postsecondary studies, and just 1 percent received a university degree. Dropout rates were higher among girls and rural children. Only about 40 percent of rural youngsters continued their education beyond the third grade. Since poverty is the primary problem of the country, the overall spending of an average family relatively allotted to basic necessities such as food and shelter. Overall the obstructing difficulties surrounding Bolivia’s national predicament and dilemma have made our conclusion that the country is the least among the three case study countries to establish a manufacturing plant and boutique. A country founded in the midst of racial difficulties, diversified religion and relatively unstable political system. Having a similar caste system as India, its mother nation, social divisions have had a direct and weighty impact on politics. These obstacles have produced several civil wars and created dent on the national standing of Sri Lanka for the past decades. Ethnic rivalries also add unstable issues among political parties. Unsound political situation and issues regarding security have been a part of the struggle of the economic standing of Sri Lanka. Violence has continued to dominate its criminal and justice system. Enforcement of labor laws and policies are still being considered by analyst as inconsistent. Labor unions are highly politicized with a variety of organizations representing different political parties. With regards to factory and manufacturing operations, certain holidays, cultural and practices such as the working time frame of women deter and delays production. Education, however, have been a primary concern of the government. In the modern educational system of Sri Lanka, within the last four decades the rate of literacy went up to 46%, the number of schools increased by 50%. Teachers place second as part of the government workforces next to the plantation workers. With some positive notes on the standing of Sri Lanka, still the matter of security risk and political and social class instability contributes highly to the reason why our team rejected the country as a prospective location to set up and establish future manufacturing plant and boutique for our new clothing line. If such conditions and issues would be addressed in the near future, Sri Lanka might be considered and be included in future studies. How to cite Nigeria Labor Practices and Policies, Papers

As the fact that the LVMH produce luxury products, the cost of products is higher than other regular products. And due to the reason that the products which are out of fashion are not easily selling and they may end up with being sold at a very low price which make a loss for the company, the company must strictly control the quantity of products they plan to produce. The ERP Systems may help the company avoid purchasing surplus materials. The cost of material may be reduced (Freeman 2010). Establishing a high efficient supply chain The supply chain includes the material supply, product design, manufacturing, products distributing and selling. The ERP Systems centralize all the information from all the departments. One change from the part of the supply chain can be informed to other parts (Angwin and Smith 2007). The improvement and maintenance of equipments can be reported to the directors directly (Freeman 2010). This is effective in reduction in cost of operation hence increases profit level. Furthermore, it also establishes a unified reporting system within an organization. It can also further be developed and used in the provision of business intelligence services or functions (Angwin and Smith 2007). Therefore, the organization should adopt and effectively implement the system to gain competitive advantage over other companies in the indust ry and achieve its growth strategy at reduced costs. The ERP system is a technological system. This system has been used by other organizations in the past especially those that respond to technological developments and advancements. Since LVMH had effectively implemented website selling, and increased its efficiency. The company can easily implement ERP system and enhance operation. Therefore, considering the ERP system is cost effective because it will assist LVMH reduce operation costs, it will be easy to implement it. Furthermore, it is efficient because it increases efficiency in operation (Angwin and Smith 2007). Economical feasibility The ERP system is based on technology. Its implementation requires finances like any other project that an organization may initiate. However, implementation costs may differ due to differen tials in the nature of projects. LVMH has implemented technological strategy in the past, for instance, a website selling. This is an indication that the company is aware of the nature and requirements of implementing a technological system. Furthermore, the company has an overview of the expected costs and time in implementation of such projects because it had implemented a technological system in the past, website selling (Funding universe 2011). Therefore, ERP system may be effectively implemented by LVMH and made operational in the organization. This is because the management of the company may apply procedures they used in implementation of websites selling in implementing ERP systems. Website selling and ERP system are related because they are technological systems hence can be implemented similarly. Moreover, the company may implement the ERP system at lower costs because the company already has a technological system in operation hence implementation of ERP system may only r equire few updates of the existing website selling system. Considering the financial status of the company and the cost of implementing an ERP system, the system can be implemented by the company. This is because it requires limited finances to implement while the company has adequate finances, which it can use in implementing the system without strain or affecting its operations (Koontz and Weihrich 2007). Operational feasibility ERP systems are among the systems that developed in operations due to technological advancements. The system greatly increases efficiency in operation due to several reasons. The system involves control of different departments and coordination of different branches or offices in different geographical locations. This will assist the company reduce its cost of operation and management. The company has a strategy of enhancing operation and ensuring it maintains its profit level in the industry. This system can easily be implemented in the operation of the o rganization due to several reasons apart from the strategies developed by the company. The system can be easily introduced and implemented in the company considering customers’, employees’, management and suppliers’ willingness in embracing technological use (Smith and Raspin 2008). In the recent past, technological development and use have greatly increased and most customers prefer services offered technological. This is because most consumers have subscribed to internet services and are well versed with technological use. The ERP system is a technological system and uses several technological concepts. Considering increased knowledge of technological services and use by most consumers (Funding universe 2011). This system can be easily introduced and implemented. This is because consumers can easily adapt to the new system considering they are well versed with technological applications. It will also be easier to introduce the system among consumers. Furthermo re, since most consumers are well versed with technological applications, it will be easy for the company to easily introduce the system and start using it efficiently (Smith and Raspin 2008). LVMH has in the past embraced technological use in operations. It is also among the first companies to introduce online selling through the company website. Technological applications are basically approved by the management team. Furthermore, introduction of online selling through the company website was introduced by the management of the company. This is a clear indication that the management of the company may easily enhance implementation of the system considering they had implemented a technological application in operation. Moreover, the management is in charge of operations in an organization, and introduction of any change in the organization must require their approval (Funding universe 2011). Management of LVMH has also portrayed willingness in implementation of strategies that can enhance the performance of the organization. Therefore, the management may easily approve implementation of the system in the company. Additionally, the management is in charge of overseeing the achievement of organizational goals and objectives, and adoption or implementation of ERP system may enable the company to achieve its goal of gaining competitive advantage in the industry where it operates. This is because ERP enhances service delivery to customers (Angwin and Smith 2007). In an organization, human resources are considered the most important resource. Implementation of ERP at LVMH requires an employees’ willingness because the introduction of the new system directly affects their operation in the business entity. LVMH frequently and consistently responds to technological developments and advancements. This is because it offers updated services technologically. Therefore, its employees are well versed with technological advancements and introduction of new operational methods. Since its employees have always embraced these changes and increased quality of services to customers, it is evident that LVMH employees can effectively enhance implementation of ERP in the organization (Angwin and Smith 2007). This is because the employees are flexible and easily adapts to changes in operation. Therefore, considering the flexible nature of LVMH employees in operation, it is evident that they can easily adapt to the new system and enhance its implementation in operations in the organization. This can enhance operations in the company because employees are willing to implement the system. Basically, LVMH employees will enhance the implementation of ERP system because strategies of the company embrace technological developments and advancements incorporation in operation to increase efficiency (Angwin and Smith 2007). Organizational strategies especially long term are applicable to both employees and suppliers. Therefore, suppliers are adequately informed an d trained by organizations when necessary in case it intends to introduce changes in operation. This is because suppliers are also part of an organization hence contributes to achievement of goals and objectives. LVMH adequately informs their suppliers and keeps them updated on changes that may affect operations in the organization (Angwin and Smith 2007). Furthermore, its suppliers supported the introduction of website selling, which is a technological selling technique. This is an indicator that its suppliers also embrace technological application in operation. Therefore, since its suppliers supported website selling and are adequately informed on technological changes and advancements, they might easily support implementation of ERP. Furthermore, suppliers operate in line with organizational goals and objectives, and strictly adhere to organizational strategies. Therefore, since its suppliers adhere by its strategies, they will enhance the implementation of ERP because it is part of the LVMH strategy of enhancing service delivery through technological developments (Angwin and Smith 2007). 5 Cases of Confusion Between Things and Their Names

5 Cases of Confusion Between Things and Their Names 5 Cases of Confusion Between Things and Their Names 5 Cases of Confusion Between Things and Their Names By Mark Nichol 1. â€Å"Users can choose from any website that offers RSS feeds, short for ‘Really Simple Syndication.’ â€Å"RSS feeds† is not short for â€Å"Really Simple Syndication.† The sentence refers to RSS feeds and then explains what the initialism stands for, but the association of the spelled-out term with the initialism is confusing, so the additional information needs to be distinguished from the main point: â€Å"Users can choose from any website that offers RSS feeds. (RSS is short for ‘Really Simple Syndication.’)† More simply, the parenthesis could be introduced as here: â€Å"Users can choose from any website that offers RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds.† However, the information is not essential and is better introduced in a trailing parenthesis. Use your judgment according to the context of each case. 2. â€Å"This is a camera obscura, a Latin term that means ‘dark chamber.’† This sentence suffers from the same type of confusion as the previous example. A camera obscura is not a Latin term; it is a device with that Latin name (and though the origin of the name is Latin, the term, despite being taken from that language, is English). Revise the sentence to clarify both points: â€Å"This is a camera obscura, a device whose name, borrowed from Latin, means ‘dark chamber.’† 3. â€Å"The pre-emptive offer also a common term in corporate transactions is hardly new.† Here, the concept of the pre-emptive offer is being mistaken for the name of the concept. Again, word the interjection of information to clarify the distinction: â€Å"The strategy known as a pre-emptive offer that phrase is also a common term in corporate transactions is hardly new.† 4. â€Å"With his talkie debut, as British secret agent Bulldog Drummond (1929), he became the first silent star to become even bigger in sound films.† This sentence attempts to name both a character and a film in one designation, but as we all know from physics class, two phenomena cannot occupy the same space at the same time. Separate the reference to the title character from that of the film title: â€Å"With his talkie debut, as the titular British secret agent in Bulldog Drummond (1929), he became the first silent star to become even bigger in sound films.† 5. â€Å"John is a Wetland Watcher a moniker he wears with pride and satisfaction.† This sentence’s conflict of concept and name is not as jarring as in the previous examples, but the statement would nevertheless benefit from more of a separation of the two elements: â€Å"John is a Wetland Watcher, and that’s a moniker he bears with pride and satisfaction.† Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? SECURITY ISSUES IN DELIVERING INFRASTRUCTURE AS A SERVICE IN CLOUD Literature review - 1

SECURITY ISSUES IN DELIVERING INFRASTRUCTURE AS A SERVICE IN CLOUD COMPUTING AND BUSINESS - Literature review Example The theme of cloud computing is that all computational resources and assets are offered by the cloud service providers to the remote users all around the globe as a service. It does not require the users to have proper knowledge and proficiency in a particular domain or technology in order to manage the resources and user can access them through internet. Cloud computing is a fairly innovative computing model and has been prominent in the field of information technology over past years. The cloud computing model enables the subscribers to utilize the computing resources and assets in the time of need, without investing higher amount of money and frees them from the worries about the complication involved in adopting other options. Nevertheless the huge number of implementations that have gotten so much higher reputation among the community of IT are oriented towards a particular business and are commercial so it does not supports the users with complex and bigger requirements and rel atively little financial resources. (Vincenzo D. Cunsolo et al, 2010, Juan D. O sorio, 2012) Cloud computing that is a modern business paradigm, involves the provision of extraordinarily scalable computing assets as a service to individual subscribers or the organizations. Companies are now adopting a trend of replacing the older IT infrastructure by consuming the ‘Infrastructure as service’ model offered by cloud computing paradigm in order to get better scalability of computing resources and to make lesser operating cost. The fundamental business of an infrastructure as a service cloud is to set up an instance of virtual machines, on-demand, for agreed period of time. The specifications (e.g. total memory storage, required operating system, executables) of the virtual machines are decided in a agreement between the cloud service provider and the consumer and service is usually provided according to some measure of QoS(

Business Ethics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 24

Business Ethics - Essay Example In this perspective, there is a moral responsibility for multinational corporations in selling Starbucks in Forbidden City. To begin with, the every individual has a fundamental right to maintain and preserve a culture (Kent, 2010). The people of Forbidden city thus have the same right and consequently expect this right to be respected by other individuals and corporations that venture into their city. Multinational corporations are consequently obliged to respect this right to cultural preservation. Business practices that harm this right would be considered as a violation of this fundamental right of the Chinese in cultural preservation and thus will be unwelcome. From a normative perspective, multinational corporations as a result have a responsibility in observing this right in respect for Chinese culture. Secondly, there is the need for consideration of beneficial business practices to both parties that would result in happiness for both, as utilitarianism states for the purposes of coexistence (Kent, 2010). Since multinational businesses make intrusions into societies’ environments, it is important that they consider what would be of great benefit to both parties. Selling Starbucks in this area is obviously not beneficial to both parties since there has been creation of conflict. In order to create a practice that would be beneficial to both corporations and society, it is imperative that consideration of this decision be made since selling the firm as it does not bring happiness to both parties. Thirdly, great moral philosophers argued before that major principles of moral philosophy demand both parties to be equal such that none should take advantage of the other. When making a decision to sell Starbucks in Forbidden City, multinational corporations should consider the effect of their actions on Chinese culture. If

Oppression of Women in Chopins Story of an Hour and Gilmans Yellow Wa

Oppression of Women in Chopin's Story of an Hour and Gilman's Yellow Wallpaper    "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin and "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman share the same view of the subordinate position of women in the late 1800's. Both stories demonstrate the devastating effects on the mind and body that result from an intelligent person living with and accepting the imposed will of another. This essay will attempt to make their themes apparent by examining a brief summery of their stories and relating them to their personal histories. It will reveal this theme further through analysis of setting, visual and conceptual symbolism, and by exploring the relationships between the characters in each story. In the "Story of an Hour", we are told that Louise has a bad heart condition. A friend of the family has discovered that there was a bad accident at her husband?s job and he is on the deceased list. Louise?s sister carefully tells her this distressing news; however, instead of falling apart, Louise finds herself feeling as if she has a new lease on life because she will finally be able to live for herself. Suddenly, her husband walks in the door, and shocked, Louise drops dead of a heart attack. The physician says it was from "a joy that kills" (341-342). In "The Yellow Wallpaper", the main character is attempting to heal from a nervous disorder. Her physician prescribes the "rest cure" which allows her to do nothing: no housekeeping, no writing, and no visiting with family or friends. She cannot even play with her baby. Her husband insists that she stay in a room upstairs and she eventually goes insane. Both Chopin and Gilman borrow from real events in their lives when writing these stories. Kat... ...V. Huntsville Project

Karen Brown PROJ586 Huntsville Project November Term Week Three Question #1 Estimated Completion Time of Project According to the requirements that we have set for this project we will not be able to complete it by the expected date of November 2013. With the amount of resources that we need to complete the project our new projected end date is January 30, 2014. There are a few options that we can take to reduce the amount of time needed to complete this project by the proposed date of November 2013. Proposed Changes to ScheduleWe can expedite the project by reducing the amount of time we have slated for some of our larger tasks. By recalculating and essentially shortening the schedule we can decrease our project by 10%. â€Å"A change in the estimated duration of any activity on that path will cause a corresponding change in the slack for that path. † (Gido and Clements 167). Currently we have several tasks that we can reduce time: * Recruiting & Training Managers 6 weeks (CP ) * Creating Building Design 6 weeks (CP) * Building Construction 40 weeks (CP) Procuring Equipment 24 weeks * Procuring Truck Fleet 8 weeks (CP) Of the five tasks identified, four of these tasks are along our critical path and attribute to 60 weeks or a little more than a year. If we were able to reduce tasks along the critical path by 30% it would provide us an extra 18 weeks or four-and-a-half months to complete the schedule. According to our current schedule we are exceeding our schedule by two-and-a-half months. I am proposing that we reduce all of the aforementioned items by a total of 0% will save us two-and-a-half months on our schedule and should provide adequate time to complete the project in the specified time. Proposed Weekly Allotments * Recruiting & Training Managers 5 weeks (CP) * Creating Building Design 5 weeks (CP) * Building Construction 36 weeks (CP) * Procuring Equipment 21 weeks * Procuring Truck Fleet 7 weeks (CP) Reallocating Resources In order to reduce the amount of time we have for each project, we will also need to change how we currently have our resources allocated. The largest impacts we potentially face are hiring additional staff increasing our costs and scope. In order to complete the building construction in 36 weeks, we will need to hire additional construction workers through our general contractor. The other tasks will require looking at the task leads and reallocating their percentage of responsibility and possibly moving someone to from task to another to complete on time. Question #2 After reviewing the Allocated Resources Reported we are currently over allocated in the beginning phases of the project. The Facility Specialist is has about 110% of responsibilities in the first week of the project. There are a couple of options that we have available to combat this problem. Reassigning Tasks This can be resolved by having the Project Management in a more active role selecting an architect. By increasing the Project Manager s workload to 10% it allows for us to reduce the Facility Specialist load to 50%, leaving him at 100% for the first couple of weeks of the project. Resource Leveling Another approach that we can take to rectify our over allocation is to level the project.Leveling the projects that are over allocated will result in one project being placed on hold until another project is complete (Gido and Clements 234). The task that is over allocated, selecting an architect, has no successors so it will not directly affect any of the other tasks in the Work Breakdown Structure. Resource-Limited Scheduling This option will allow for us to create a new truncated schedule that equally matches our staffing capacities. Instead of spending two weeks to look for an architect we can shorten that timeframe to one week. That additional week will allow for staff to spend time on their other assignments. All of these tasks have a positive slack, meaning they have some time to be completed because they are not along critical paths, and should not change the date in which the project will be completed. Of the three options that are available, Resource Leveling will be the most efficient to achieving our goals an d having the right amount of expertise involved in the project. Simple Crier (to Shout) Verb Conjugations in French

To shout or to scream in French uses the verb  crier. Its an easy one to remember if you remember that you cry out when you scream. Transforming it into the past, present, or future tense requires a verb conjugation and a quick lesson will show you how its done. Conjugating the French Verb  Crier The conjugations of French verbs  are a little complicated. You must, of course, change the ending to match the tense, but theres also a new ending used for each subject pronoun. That means you have more words to commit to memory. The good news is that  crier  is a  regular -ER verb  and it follows a very common verb conjugation pattern. The infinitive endings you see here are the same youll find in conjugations of  crà ©er  (to create),  fà ¢cher  (to make angry), and countless other verbs. To study these conjugations, pair the subject pronoun with the proper tense. For instance, I shout is je crie and we will scream is nous crierons Practicing these in various contexts will help with your memorization. Subject Present Future Imperfect je crie crierai criais tu cries crieras criais il crie criera criait nous crions crierons criions vous criez crierez criiez ils crient crieront criaient The Present Participle of Crier Adding -ant  to the verb stem  cri-  creates the  present participle  criant. This is a verb, of course, though you may also use it as an adjective, gerund, or noun in some circumstances. The Past Participle and Passà © Composà © The  passà © composà ©Ã‚  is another form of the past tense. It requires the  past participle  crià ©, which is attached to the subject pronoun and a conjugation of  avoir  (an  auxiliary, or helping, verb). Putting the passà © composà © together is rather simple: I screamed becomes jai crià © and we shouted is nous avons crià ©. More Simple Crier  Conjugations The subjunctive verb form is used when the action of shouting is questionable, subjective, or uncertain. Similarly, the conditional verb form implies that the action may not happen unless something else happens. Primarily found in literature, you may not use the passà © simple nor the imperfect subjunctive yourself. However, you should be able to recognize them as a form of  crier. Subject Subjunctive Conditional Passà © Simple Imperfect Subjunctive je crie crierais criai criasse tu cries crierais crias criasses il crie crierait cria crià ¢t nous criions crierions crià ¢mes criassions vous criiez crieriez crià ¢tes criassiez ils crient crieraient crià ¨rent criassent A very useful form of  crier  is the imperative verb form. This is used for exclamations and when using it, you can skip the subject pronoun: use crie rather than tu crie. Imperative (tu) crie (nous) crions (vous) criez
